A Look Back at Remote Working During the COVID-19 Pandemic

  • by Donnie Evans

It’s hard to believe this month marks one year since the world was turned upside down by COVID-19. Like most businesses across the nation, INETCO faced challenges, but also new opportunities, as a result of the pandemic.

Since many of INETCO’s clients are involved in essential business, like finance and healthcare, the company continued to operate and support clients at full capacity throughout the pandemic.

“As a technology company, we had remote working tools ready to deploy, so we really didn’t miss a beat in serving our customers,” said Donnie Evans, COO at INETCO. “For our clients during those early days, we realized the best thing to do was communicate. We spent a lot of time on the phone, taking calls from concerned business owners and also proactively reaching out to others to discuss planning and strategy.”

INETCO also proactively offered to help businesses solve communication problems through the company’s blog. INETCO was able to set up business call forwarding to cell phones for multiple companies, often within the same day, and the company provided video conferencing solutions to non-profits, like the local Chamber of Commerce.

Beyond call forwarding, most of INETCO’s clients adopted a “working from home” (WFH) approach, so INETCO helped them access and configure necessary remote working tools like VPN access, business phone services that work from anywhere such as Yonder UC, video conferencing tools, conferencing cameras, laptops, printer recommendations, and much more.

However, other clients faced extreme challenges in continuing their operations. “Since we’re located in the Nashville area, we have quite a few clients who are in the entertainment industry or directly support that industry,” said Donnie Evans. “Some were forced to manage with drastically reduced revenues or no revenues at all, so we worked together to come up with solutions to meet their evolving needs.”

While not many organizations would volunteer to repeat the struggles of the last year, INETCO found a way to not only survive, but thrive, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and help their clients do the same.
